THE FC CUP 2013 TOURNAMENT 23/6/13 WOODLEY SPORTS

The Coach Shaun Francis entered the Greens in to The FC Cup Tournament that was played on a very Cold, Windy and Wet Day, There was four groups of five teams playing four games.

1st Game v Stalybridge Celtic Blues. The Greens got off to a good start with a Josh Mellor headed that went just wide, he then followed up with a shot that hit the bar, the opposition goalkeeper saved from Ben Stewart. Harvey Moors scored the 1st goal 1-0, following an excellent passing move Josh Mellor scored to make it 2-0 the Greens continued to attack and Ben Stewart scored the third, following an excellent passing move and the game ended 3-0.

2nd game v Marple athletic “A”.  With the Greens attacking Alex Judd fired a shot that went just wide and another that was saved, Dylan Francis then scored to make it 1-0 again the Greens continued to attack and Rio Burns shot just wide, the opposition then scored to make it 1-1, the Greens continued to attack and shots from Harvey Moors, Dylan Francis and Harvey Moors again all went wide of the goal and the game ended 1-1.

3rd Game v Sale United  With the Greens playing some very good football Josh Mellor scored to make it 1-0 the Greens continued making good passing moves and Dylan Francis scored to make it 2-0 the Greens continued to attack and Ben Stewart scored to make it 3-0 the ref then gave a penalty to the Greens that Josh Mellor took and the goalkeeper saved and the game ended 3-0

4th Game v Cheshire Boys.  With the Greens attacking Harvey Moors shot wide of the goal, he then went on to score the first goal to make it 1-0. With some excellent football by the Greens Harvey Moors hit the post, the Greens continued to play good football and this brought the second goal scored by Rio Burns, Rio then went on to score his 2nd goal slotting the ball into the net at the near post and the game ended 3-0

with the three wins and a score draw, the Greens finished top of the group with 11 points, and qualified for the quarter final.

Quarter Final v Socatechnix  With two good sides playing very good football Callum Malpas had to make two very good saves, then Harvey Moors had a shot that the goalkeeper saved, Callum Malpas then made a further two saves to keep the score 0-0, with chances by Rio Burns and Harvey Moors that went just wide the game ended 0-0 at full time. with the game in extra time the ref gave a penalty to the Greens that Alex Judd and scored the game ended 1-0 and the Greens qualified for the semi final.

Semi Final v Denton Youth  With the Greens attacking Alex Judd shot just over, the opposition goalkeeper then saved from Harvey Moors, Callum Malpas had to save to his right and pushed the ball for a corner, with minutes to go the opposition scored to make 0-1 the Greens then missed a chance to level the score but the game ended 0-1. And the Greens then went into a playoff for third place

playoff v Stalybridge Celtic  After 3 minutes with ball bouncing around the Greens area the opposition scored, the Greens continued to attack and Harvey Moors scored to make it 1-1, just before the end Alex Judd won the ball on the right pushed forward and smashed the ball into top corner for 2-1 FT

The Greens finished a commendable third in the competition following a very good qualifying section

Match Report Duk U11s v Duk Tigers summer league 22/6/13

Todays game at Woodley sports was played in a very strong wind on the 3G pitch, from the start following some very good play Charlie Sumner fired the ball just wide of the goals, with the Greens attacking they won a corner on the left that Dylan Francis scored direct from 1-0, with some excellent passing Dylan Francis crossed for Charlie Sumner to scored but the ref disallowed it for offside, not long after Josh Mellor fired into the bottom corner to make it 2-0 from one of the few attacks by the opposition Callum  Malpas made an excellent save, with the ball bouncing about on the edge of the opposition area Joseph Armstrong hit a thunderbolt into the top corner to make it 3-0.The Greens continued to attack and Dylan Francis had a shot that hit the bar, the Greens were attacking at will and the opposition goalkeeper saved from Josh Mellor, Charlie Sumner had an headed that was just wide, just before half time Dylan Francis scored to make it 4-0. Straight from the kick off in the second half Charlie Sumner scored to make it 5-0 then the Greens won a free kick on the right that Ben Stewart took and it was a screamer into the top corner to make it 6-0, from a shot that the goalkeeper couldn’t hold Dylan Francis was on hand to prod the ball home for his hat trick 7-0 from the kick off the Greens again won the ball and following some very good passing Charlie Sumner scored his second to make the score 8-0 the Greens were relentless in attacking with saves from Josh Mellor, Callum  Dawson firing just over and Dylan Francis just wide, Joseph Armstrong then made it 9-0  with his second goal, with further saves from Joseph Armstrong and Callum Dawson, Alex Judd scored following an excellent passing move and the game ended 10-0

DUK UNDER 10s FRIENDLY v DUKINFIELD TIGERS

The Greens played a 9 v 9 friendly on Saturday the 18th May v Dukinfield Tigers on Dewsnap Lane, the game was played on a very small pitch that was wet with the drizzle and overnight rain.

The Greens started well with good passing moves and the 1st goal came from Josh Mellor following some good play on the left, the 2nd goal came, following a fumble by the opposition goalkeeper and Dylan Francis slotted the ball home, the 3rd goal came from Ben Stewart with a smart left footed drive into the bottom corner of the net,  then just before half- time Harvey Moores scored with a good right footed shot to make it 4-0 at half-time.

The second half started with 5 changes made by the coach Shaun Francis and it wasn’t long before Harvey Moores made it 5-0 from a left footed shot by Callum Dawson that he got his head to and gave the goalkeeper no chance, the Greens goalkeeper Callum Malpas made a smart save to push the ball for a corner, with the Greens pushing forward Josh Mellor  made it 6-0, The coach continued to make changes to give  all the players more game time, following some good play on the edge of the area Callum Dawson scored with a very good left footed shot to make it 7-0, the Greens continued pushing forward and playing good football and following a scramble in the area Bobbie Gregory slotted the ball home to make it 8-0 at full time.

The two teams then had a penalty shootout with 14 penalties each, from the 14 penalties the Greens had 3 saved and missed 3,  from the Tigers 14 penalties the Greens goalkeeper Callum Malpas saved 5 and they missed one and it ended 8-8.

The team consisted of : Harrison Vernon, Ben Stewart, Josh Mellor, Dylan Francis, Charlie Sumner, Harvey Moores, Alex Judd, Joe Ball, Lewis Taylor, Callum  Dawson, Bobbie Gregory, Joseph Armstrong,  Callum Malpas, Max Harvey.

 

 

 

Duk U 10s (Greens) v Chadderton Park Match Report 27/4/13

A FANTASTIC DAY FOR THE DUK UNDER 10s GREENS TODAY

Game 1 Team: Callum Malpas, Harrison Vernon, Ben Stewart, Josh Mellor, Dylan Francis, Charlie Sumner, Harvey Moores.

The Greens started the game in fine form with all the play, following a back pass that the goalkeeper handled, Josh Mellor fizzed the shot just over the bar, the Greens continued pushing forward and the ball came back into play from the crossbar from a flick by Charlie Sumner, following some more excellent play, the ball fell to Josh Mellor who slotted it home. 1-0 HT  In the second half the Greens continued to push forward, following a scramble in the area Harvey Moores prodded the ball home, the Greens were playing some excellent football and from a fine pass from Josh to Dylan Francis he fired the ball into the far corner, the Greens continued to push forward and Josh Mellor scored the 4th, he then finish off a fine game with a goal for his hat trick and the game ended 5-0.

Game 2  Team: Callum Malpas, Alex Judd, Joe Ball, Lewis Taylor, Callum  Dawson, Bobby Gregory, Owen Steels, Subs Joseph Armstrong

The game started with some cagey football played by both teams, with Alex Judd very strong at the back, not many chances fell to both teams and the game ended 0-0 at HT.  The second half  was just the same as the first but half way through the ball fell to Callum Dawson who fizzed in an excellent goal, with the opposition attacking the Greens goalkeeper Callum Malpas had to make a very good save to his left, he then had to make another good save to his right, with the game nearing the end the opposition won the ball from a dropped ball and with a one on one on the goalkeeper they scored to make it 1-1, with only seconds left and another one on one with the Greens goalkeeper they made it 2-1 and the game ended at 2-1.

With the 2 points won in to first game, this meant that the Greens could not be caught, therefore CHAMPIONS

The players, parents, grandparents and guardians would like to thank the coach Shaun Francis for all his time and commitment to the team.

 

Duk U 10s (Greens) v Brendon Bees Match Report 13/4/13

Another excellent day of Football played by the Greens today.

1st Game, Team: Callum Malpas, Harrison Vernon, Ben Stewart, Josh Mellor, Dylan Francis, Harvey Moores, Charlie Sumner.

Following a slow start the Greens upped the tempo and with some good pressing, forced the opposition to concede an own goal. they continued to press forward and when the opposition goalkeeper made a mistake  Harvey Moores pounced to slot the ball home. the Greens continued to dominate play and just before half time Josh Mellor scored to make it 3-0 at half time, The opposition started the second half more determined and scored a goal to make it 3-1 but the Greens got back on top and continued to make chances, with the game nearing the end Dylan Francis scored to make it 4-1 at full time.  MOTM Dylan Francis.

2nd Game, Team: Callum Malpas, Owen Steeles, Joe Ball, Joseph Armstrong, Alex Judd, Connor McBride, Lewis Taylor.

The Greens started really well with all the play and Lewis Taylor scored a very good headed goal, half way through the half Lewis scored again with a low shot into the corner of the net half time 2-0.  In the second half it was all the Greens and Owen Steeles made it 3-0, there was no let up and Connor McBride made it 4-0.  Owen Steeles was very unlucky with a flick that came back into play from the crossbar, he was also unlucky with a free kick that also came back into play from the crossbar, with the Greens pushing forward Lewis Taylor then scored his 3rd goal for his hat-trick, just before the end Lewis finished off a fine solo run with a shot into the far corner for his 4th goal, the ref then blew up for full time 6-0  MOTM Lewis Taylor. 

With these 2 scores this puts the Greens at the top of the League on Goal difference.
